Alexander Technique Perfect Postureand neither is mine. And, your posture isn’t perfect; neither is mine.  F.M. Alexander, the originator of the Alexander Technique, didn’t “have”  perfect posture, or a free neck. We don’t “have” a free neck, like we “own” a free neck. If anything, we rent or lease a free neck, with no option to buy. And,  lease expires and and we re-sign countless times a day.

(This rent/ lease/own analogy is nearly over.)

Luckily, we don’t “own” a stiff neck either, though we say we “have” a stiff neck.

With awareness, directions, and practice, we free our neck muscles, free our back muscles, free our facial muscles, and that could be the start of something big.

We move towards a free neck, free lower back muscles, a free jaw, and a free, upright posture.

Good posture, less tension—perfection is out of the question.

Everyone’s posture, or how they “use” themselves, isn’t always optimal, so smile; you can’t do the Alexander Technique wrong. And with the help of your Alexander Technique teacher your postural habits improve.

You’ll free your neck so that your head moves up, and your spine goes up along for the ride. You’ll get a freer neck, freer shoulders, a freer back, freer jaw, freer breathing, freer posture, and a freer outlook.
