Best Way To Improve Posture
The Alexander Technique is best known for improving posture.
Most people think they know how to improve posture, but it might not the best way. It may not be sustainable over time.
Here’s what most of us know about improving posture: Stand up straight and sit up straight. Suck your stomach in, push your chest out, put your shoulders back, stick your chin back etc. This is military posture.
Why isn’t this the best way to improve your posture?
Because it’s just a posture, and won’t be maintained.
Improve Posture with the Alexander Technique
Have a seat, if you are not already seated.
Notice your breathing, and let it be full, and slow.
Let go of the muscles in the back of your neck.
And, think of your head slowly rotating forward (lowering the tip of your nose), while the crown of your head moves up. Let your head take your entire torso up.
Notice your breathing.
Opposition-Up and down
The sit bones are ‘U’ shaped bones on the bottom of your torso.
Let your sit bones release down into the chair.
Your neck frees and your head and torso move up.
You are going up and down at the same time, lengthening.
You can improving your posture without trying.
